Locations We Serve

Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS)

CASS provides shelter and supportive services to those experiencing homelessness. While the circumstances vary, the ultimate factors that lead to homelessness are a lack of resources and/or support. CASS has been serving the community since 1984, connecting people to the appropriate resources so that they may rebuild their lives. CASS’ Downtown Single Adult Shelter is a 600-bed shelter that provides residents with employment, mental health services, healthcare, and other assistance depending on need. Their ultimate goal is to empower these individuals to end their homelessness.

Vista Colina Emergency Family Shelter (VC)

Vista Colina is an emergency family shelter for families for up to 90 days. There are many children ranging from newborn to 18 years at Vista Colina.

H.O.M.E. offers clinics at VC to provide free and easily accessible medical care for the children and adults residing at Vista Colina. Under the supervision of a physician or other health care preceptors, patients meet with our multidisciplinary team of student volunteers to discuss their medical concerns, receive physical exams, develop treatment plans and be prescribed medications as needed.

MWU students also lead educational presentations about important health topics on two Saturdays per month at Vista Colina. These presentations are interactive, engaging, and catered towards children, although we welcome all members of the family to attend.

Justa Center (JC)

Since 2006, the Justa Center has been providing resources, services, and support to help homeless seniors on their path to housing while also providing support to seniors on the verge of becoming homeless. They value treating every individual in their community with dignity and respect while acknowledging their right to feel safe and have access to basic amenities that would be found in a typical home. Every individual that works with Justa Center is committed to improving their own life and chooses to partake in opportunities to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. Our Education events give us the opportunity to provide a fun learning environment to discuss health topics that this demographic would be more susceptible to while also giving them insight on warning signs to look for when they are out on the streets.

Native American Connections (NAC)

The Patina Wellness Center is a residential substance use treatment center that primarily focuses on supporting women and families in their recovery from addiction or substance use disorders. The center aims to prevent family separation by providing a safe and nurturing environment for women and their young children, aged from birth to 5 years old, to stay together during recovery. In some instances, the center also accommodates coupled families in recovery.

St. Vincent de Paule on Washington Street (SVDP WSS)

H.O.M.E. offers monthly clinics at this site, providing free and easily accessible medical care. Under the supervision of a physician preceptor, patients meet with our multidisciplinary team of student volunteers to discuss their medical concerns, receive physical exams, develop treatment plans and be prescribed medications as needed.

United Methodist Outreach Ministries (UMOM)

UMOM provides emergency shelter for up to 120 homeless single women and 20 families every night. The shelter is only set up at night; therefore, many of the women and families are on the streets of south Phoenix all day.
